New Delhi, October 28, 2026: The All India Distillers’ Association (AIDA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 26, 2026, at Le Méridien, New Delhi, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders from India’s ethanol and bioenergy sectors to review the association’s annual activities and outline its strategic priorities for 2027.
The meeting focused on the performance of the distilling industry, ongoing policy initiatives and emerging opportunities in ethanol production and alternative bioenergy. Key discussion areas included ethanol procurement, feedstock availability and security, procurement pricing, Flex Fuel Vehicle implementation, and policy development for compressed biogas (CBG), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other renewable energy solutions.
The year 2026 marked a period of organisational development for AIDA under the leadership of President Vijendra Singh and Vice President Kushal Mittal. The association strengthened its professional secretariat, reconstituted expert committees and expanded engagement with government departments, oil marketing companies (OMCs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and international partners to address industry challenges and support the growth of India’s bioenergy ecosystem.

His participation highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between policymakers and industry representatives in developing a sustainable framework for ethanol production, procurement and blending.
A major priority discussed at the meeting was ensuring economically viable ethanol procurement under the Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2026–27. In its response to the government’s ethanol tender, identified as Tender ID 26985, AIDA acknowledged the government’s balanced approach while calling for appropriate incentives, viable procurement prices and operational flexibility for grain-based and sugarcane-based ethanol producers.
The association also emphasised the need for continued policy support for maize-based ethanol and a revision in the procurement price of ethanol produced from Food Corporation of India (FCI) rice. According to AIDA’s position, these measures would help improve project viability, strengthen feedstock diversification and support the long-term sustainability of distilleries.
Looking ahead, AIDA outlined its 2027 vision, focusing on policy certainty, reliable feedstock linkages and a clear roadmap for ethanol blending beyond the E20 target, including E25 and E30. The association also highlighted demand creation through Flex Fuel Vehicles and the expansion of bioenergy applications, including CBG, SAF, ethanol cooking solutions and ethanol-diesel blending.
The AGM reinforced AIDA’s commitment to advancing India’s ethanol and bioenergy industries through constructive policy engagement, investment-supportive regulations and stronger cooperation among stakeholders. The association’s priorities are aimed at strengthening energy security, promoting domestic feedstock utilisation and supporting India’s transition towards a more diversified and sustainable energy economy.
