Bengaluru: Crazy Cock Indian Single Malt Whisky Madhuca I and Six Brothers Mahura are being showcased at Bengaluru Duty Free, bringing indigenous mahua flower-based spirits into the spotlight and highlighting India’s growing premium alcoholic beverages market.
Produced by South Seas Distilleries, Crazy Cock Madhuca I is an Indian single malt whisky matured in ex-brandy and ex-bourbon casks before undergoing a finishing period in ex-Mahura casks. The expression combines floral and earthy characteristics with fruit, spice and oak influences, reflecting the use of mahua in contemporary whisky maturation. Madhuca I received a Gold Medal at the World Whisky Masters 2026 and secured a top-three ranking at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) UK 2026.

The showcase also features Six Brothers Mahura, a spirit produced using mahua flowers and double-distilled in copper pot stills. The product draws on the traditional use of mahua in India while presenting the indigenous ingredient in a contemporary spirits format.
Mahua, the flower of the Madhuca tree, has longstanding cultural and traditional associations in several parts of India. Its use in alcoholic beverages reflects regional practices and the country’s diverse heritage of indigenous ingredients. The growing presence of mahua-based products in premium spirits portfolios also highlights opportunities to reinterpret traditional ingredients through modern distillation, maturation and product development.
