New Delhi: Delhi residents can now pre-book liquor online through a dedicated mobile application launched by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), offering a more convenient way to purchase alcoholic beverages and reduce waiting times at retail outlets. The new Delhi Liquor Booking app allows customers to browse available brands, select their preferred bottle size and quantity, make digital payments and collect their orders from designated liquor shops. The initiative aims to ease congestion at retail counters, streamline billing and improve transparency in liquor sales.
Under the new online liquor booking facility, customers can select their preferred retail outlet from the available options and place an order for products currently in stock. After completing the digital payment, the app generates a unique QR code, which customers must present at the selected store. Retail staff scan the code to verify the booking and hand over the purchased liquor. Customers are required to collect their orders within 48 hours of booking, making the facility an advance reservation and in-store pickup service rather than a home delivery option.

Home delivery of liquor is not available under the new arrangement, and customers must visit the designated outlet personally to receive their purchases. The facility is expected to benefit buyers by allowing them to check product availability and complete payment before reaching the store, potentially reducing queues and waiting times at participating outlets.
The online booking system operates under Delhi’s existing excise regulations, including age restrictions and prescribed purchase limits. Customers must be at least 25 years old to purchase alcohol in the capital. The applicable individual purchase limits include up to nine litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer, subject to the relevant excise rules.

Customers can cancel their bookings before collecting their orders from the retail outlet. However, once the liquor has been handed over, the purchase cannot be returned under the stated policy.
The launch of the Delhi liquor pre-booking app marks a step towards digitising alcohol retail services in the capital. By combining online product selection, digital payments and QR-code-based collection, DSIIDC aims to improve customer convenience and retail efficiency while maintaining existing excise compliance requirements. The service does not eliminate the need for physical store visits but offers customers a more organised way to plan their liquor purchases.
