The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Chhattisgarh have arrested retired IAS officer Niranjan Das in connection with the state’s liquor scam. Das had earlier served as commissioner of the excise department.
Investigators allege that he helped the syndicate behind the scam and, in return, received illegal benefits worth several crores. The allegations include allowing the sale of unaccounted liquor through government shops, influencing officer transfers, manipulating tenders, and supporting a faulty liquor policy to favor the syndicate.
