Pervez Bapuna, Chief Operations Officer at Bapuna Alcobrew, is working to strengthen India’s position in the global alcoholic beverages industry by combining generations of distilling expertise with innovation and regionally inspired products. As a third-generation distiller, blender and bottler, Bapuna brings a deep understanding of manufacturing, quality control and business operations, shaped by his family’s longstanding involvement in the industry.
Educated in Business Administration and Law at Symbiosis Law School, Pune, and having completed Business Management Studies at SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Bapuna combines commercial knowledge with practical industry experience. His professional approach is influenced by growing up around the family distillery and observing the operational practices of his father and uncles.

One of the key initiatives under his leadership is Chambal Gin, a brand created to bring the identity and heritage of Madhya Pradesh to India’s growing craft spirits market. After spending decades producing and bottling beverages for leading alcohol brands, the family wanted to introduce products carrying its own name and regional story. Inspired by Gwalior and the Chambal Valley, the gin reflects an effort to showcase India’s heartland as a distinctive destination for premium spirits.
Another initiative is the Banjara Trail, an ongoing series of regional gin expressions exploring India’s diverse botanical heritage. Its Western Ghats edition, inspired by the region around Nagpur, combines orange, hibiscus and kokum to create a lighter, floral profile while maintaining the brand’s focus on balance and craftsmanship.

Manufacturing discipline and consistent quality must support every innovation, ensuring that each bottle delivers the intended experience across batches. He believes Indian spirits can compete internationally by drawing inspiration from the country’s landscapes, ingredients and distilling capabilities rather than borrowing concepts from overseas markets.
Operating in a highly regulated industry, Bapuna Alcobrew also places emphasis on product storytelling, packaging and consumer experience instead of conventional alcohol advertising. Looking ahead, Bapuna sees innovation in discovering regional botanicals and creating authentic experiences that connect consumers with India’s cultural diversity. Through Chambal Gin and the Banjara Trail, he aims to demonstrate how Indian heritage, modern craftsmanship and product quality can help build globally recognised Indian spirits brands.
