Vanaha Gin by Revelry Distillery has unveiled Buransh Bagh, a new gin made with the rare Buransh flower sourced from the Himalayan forests of Uttarakhand. Positioned as the world’s first Buransh Gin, the new expression captures the distinctive character of Rhododendron arboreum, locally known as Buransh, which blooms for only a few weeks each year across the Himalayan region.
Buransh Bagh is inspired by the seasonal transformation of Uttarakhand’s forests, where Buransh trees burst into vibrant shades of crimson during their short flowering season. The flower grows wild rather than being cultivated, with its blooming period generally lasting around six weeks between mid-February and mid-April, depending on altitude. Traditionally, local communities have used Buransh flowers to prepare beverages such as sharbat, as well as chutneys and other preparations.
The development of Vanaha Buransh Bagh began in the Himalayan villages located more than 8,000 feet above sea level. Revelry Distillery founders Vaniitha and Navvin Jaiin spent ten days in the region during the Buransh season, trekking into the forests alongside local women who traditionally forage the flowers. The experience offered the founders an opportunity to understand the seasonal harvesting practices and the cultural significance of Buransh among Himalayan communities.
For Buransh Bagh, the flowers are hand-foraged during the limited flowering season, with the petals carefully selected and sun-dried to retain their natural character. Vaniitha Jaiin, Founder and Chief Evangelist, Revelry Distillery, said the time spent in the villages helped the team understand why Buransh holds such importance for communities living in the region. She described the gin as an attempt to bring the character of the Himalayan flower to a wider audience while maintaining respect for its origin and traditional harvesting practices.

Navvin Jaiin, Co-founder, Revelry Distillery, said Buransh represents the kind of discovery that reflects the diversity of India’s forests and remains relatively unfamiliar outside the Himalayan region. According to the company, bringing such indigenous botanicals to consumers is central to Revelry’s approach to developing its spirits portfolio.
Vanaha Buransh Bagh follows Vanaha Gin’s proprietary five-step distillation process, which combines copper pot distillation, vapour infusion and cold vacuum distillation to preserve the character of delicate botanicals. The gin brings together Buransh flowers, wild forest berries and juniper, resulting in a profile that combines floral and fruity notes with soft berry sweetness and subtle earthy depth. Juniper provides the core structure, while Buransh remains the defining botanical.
The expression contains no added colour, sugar or flavouring, with its taste and subtle sweetness derived naturally from the botanicals. The liquid itself is clear, while the bottle features a soft blush-toned hue inspired by the pink and white Buransh blooms found at higher Himalayan altitudes.
With Buransh Bagh, Revelry Distillery continues its forest-to-bottle approach, focusing on sourcing botanicals from their natural environments and developing spirits around their seasonal characteristics. Vanaha Buransh Bagh is available in a 750ml bottle from September 2026 across Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is priced at ₹2,750 in Goa, ₹3,850 in Maharashtra and ₹3,350 in Karnataka, with prices subject to variation by outlet and change over time.
