Amrut Distilleries has expanded its premium whisky portfolio with the launch of Amrut Kranthi Indian Single Malt Whisky, a new expression that celebrates what the company describes as “the Indian single malt whisky revolution.” The new whisky has been introduced in Karnataka and is priced at a maximum retail price of ₹3,200 for a 750ml bottle.
Bottled at 40% ABV, Amrut Kranthi is a non-age statement Indian single malt whisky produced using a proprietary yeast strain developed by the Bangalore-based distiller. The whisky has been matured in a combination of new oak barrels, ex-Bourbon casks, Madeira casks and oloroso Sherry casks, creating a layered maturation profile designed to enhance both fruit and spice characteristics.

According to the company’s tasting profile, Amrut Kranthi offers aromas and flavours of tropical fruits, pomelo, coconut, warm spice, gentle tannins and a creamy mouthfeel, positioning it as a contemporary Indian single malt aimed at both domestic whisky enthusiasts and premium spirits consumers.
Commenting on the launch, Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director of Amrut Distilleries, said that India’s growing confidence as a producer of luxury goods should be reflected in globally competitive Indian brands and craftsmanship. He described Kranthi, which takes its name from the Hindi word for “revolution,” as a celebration of a changing mindset in which India is increasingly recognised for producing world-class single malt whisky. Jagdale also dedicated the launch to his father, Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, whose pioneering work helped establish the foundation of India’s modern single malt whisky industry.

Amrut Distilleries was founded by Radhakrishna Jagdale in 1948 and has grown into one of India’s leading premium spirits producers, employing around 1,600 people across its operations. The company gained international recognition with the launch of Amrut Fusion in 2009, widely regarded as the first Indian single malt to achieve significant commercial success in global markets. Fusion is notable for combining Indian and Scottish barley in its production process.
The launch of Amrut Kranthi comes at a time when the Indian single malt category is receiving increased industry attention. In June 2026, the Indian Malt Whisky Association (IMWA) introduced a mark of authenticity for Indian single malts that meet specified standards for production and maturation, a move aimed at strengthening the credibility and global positioning of Indian whisky.
Amrut has continued to push the boundaries of the category in recent years. In 2025, the company introduced Amrut Expedition 15-Year-Old, which was presented as the oldest Indian single malt whisky ever bottled. The broader Indian spirits industry is also experiencing strong international momentum, with Indian spirits exports reaching approximately US$375 million in 2024, reflecting double-digit growth since 2022 and underscoring the rising global demand for premium Indian whisky and other Indian-made spirits.
