The All India Distillers’ Association (AIDA) will host the AIDA Green Energy Seminar 2026 on September 2, 2026, at Le Méridien, New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, government officials, automobile manufacturers, energy companies, bioenergy producers and global experts to discuss India’s next phase of clean mobility and bioenergy development. Organised under the theme “Clean Mobility Pathways for India’s Energy Future,” the seminar will focus on higher ethanol blending, flex-fuel vehicles, Compressed Biogas (CBG), Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), sustainable feedstocks and emerging bioenergy technologies.
The seminar comes as India moves beyond the landmark E20 ethanol-blending milestone, with the focus shifting towards higher ethanol blends and the development of the ecosystem required to support flex-fuel mobility. Discussions will cover E85 and other higher-blend fuels, vehicle compatibility, fuel quality, dispensing infrastructure, consumer adoption and the policy framework needed to scale ethanol-based mobility across the country.
AIDA said India’s clean energy transition is expanding beyond ethanol, with CBG, SAF, ethanol-based cooking solutions and other bioenergy pathways creating opportunities across transportation, aviation, agriculture, waste management and rural development. The seminar will therefore bring together stakeholders from the policy, agriculture, automotive, energy and technology sectors to examine how these interconnected solutions can contribute to energy security, emissions reduction, resource efficiency and sustainable economic growth.

The inaugural session will feature a welcome address by Vijendra Singh, President, AIDA, followed by addresses from senior government representatives, including the Secretary, Bureau of Energy Efficiency; Senior Advisor, NITI Aayog; Alok Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas; and Praveen Khanooja, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Harshvardhan Patil, President, National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF), is also scheduled to deliver a special address.
One of the key discussions will focus on feedstock sustainability and the balance between food, fuel, land and water security. The panel will include Dr. Mehraj A.S., Deputy Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare; Reece Cannady, Director, U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council; Kapil Nema, Deputy Executive Director – Sugar & Ethanol Business, Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries Ltd.; and R.K. Gangwar, Managing Director, Mawana Sugars Limited. The session will be moderated by Sankalp Purwar, Chief Business Officer, CRID, and will examine feedstock availability, regional resource constraints, water efficiency and the development of a diversified and sustainable bioenergy feedstock base.
Another major session will address what comes after E20, with discussions around higher ethanol blending, flex-fuel vehicles and the infrastructure required for wider adoption. Stakeholders from the automobile, energy efficiency, biofuel and policy sectors, including representatives from Maruti Suzuki/Toyota, Hero MotoCorp/Bajaj, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and NITI Aayog, are expected to participate. Vijay Nirani, Founder and Managing Director, TruAlt Bioenergy Limited, will represent the biofuel producer perspective, while Nischint Kanodia, Managing Director, Mash Bio-Fuels Private Limited, will moderate the session.
The seminar will also examine the growing role of Compressed Biogas (CBG) and the GOBARdhan initiative in India’s clean energy transition. Discussions will cover agricultural residue and organic waste utilisation, feedstock aggregation, project viability, offtake mechanisms, financing, infrastructure and the integration of CBG into the country’s mobility and energy ecosystem. The session will also consider greater coordination between agriculture, waste management, energy and transport policies to improve the commercial viability of waste-to-energy projects.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) will be another key focus area at the AIDA Green Energy Seminar 2026. With global aviation increasingly moving towards lower-carbon fuels, the seminar will examine India’s emerging SAF ecosystem, including technology pathways, sustainable feedstocks, investment requirements and policy and regulatory frameworks. Stakeholders will also discuss opportunities for Indian biofuel producers to participate in the global aviation energy transition by leveraging the country’s agricultural residues, ethanol, biomass and renewable energy resources.
The programme will feature the launch of two White Papers by reputed institutions and organisations, bringing research-based insights and policy recommendations into the clean energy discussion. The papers are expected to address key challenges facing India’s next generation of biofuels and clean mobility solutions and provide recommendations for policymakers and industry stakeholders.
A dedicated session on state-level bioenergy development will highlight the role of state governments in implementing India’s broader bioenergy transition. Representatives from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, along with international perspectives, will participate in the session. Speakers include Dr. Sanjay Kolte, I.A.S., Commissioner Sugar, Maharashtra, and Sumit Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer, Chhattisgarh Bioenergy Development Authority (CBDA). The session will be moderated by Sanjay Ganjoo, Director General, IFGE, and will examine state policies, feedstock availability, infrastructure, investment and local implementation frameworks.
The seminar will also recognise the contribution of women leaders to India’s bioenergy and sustainability sectors through a dedicated session titled “High Power Women in Bioenergy & Sustainability Sector.” The session will feature Dr. Nidhi Sahu, Deputy General Manager, Indian Federation of Green Energy; Dr. Sangeeta Srivastava, Executive Director, Godavari Biorefineries Ltd.; and Piya Srinivasan, along with other women professionals from the sector. The discussion will be moderated by Ashesha Advaryu, Financial Markets Anchor & Lead Research Analyst, ET NOW & ET NOW Swadesh.
The AIDA Green Energy Seminar 2026 is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to develop a broader roadmap for India’s clean mobility and bioenergy transition beyond E20. With higher ethanol blending, flex-fuel vehicles, CBG, GOBARdhan, SAF, sustainable feedstocks and emerging clean-energy applications emerging as interconnected growth areas, the seminar will focus on the policy, technology, infrastructure and investment requirements needed to scale these solutions.
By bringing together government, agriculture, automobile manufacturers, oil and energy companies, technology providers, financial institutions and bioenergy producers, AIDA aims to facilitate greater collaboration around India’s clean energy goals.
