Jaipur: Acting on the directions of Udaipur Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, the Rajasthan Excise Department has launched a major statewide enforcement drive against the illegal manufacturing, storage, transportation, smuggling and sale of liquor. Excise teams carried out coordinated raids across multiple districts, seizing illicit liquor, destroying thousands of litres of fermented wash and arresting several accused involved in bootlegging operations.
In Chittorgarh district, excise teams conducted raids in Nimbahera and Begun, where they destroyed 1,000 litres of illicit liquor wash and seized 15 litres of illegal hand-made liquor. Officials also recovered 62 pouches of country liquor from an unregistered motorcycle and arrested the accused on the spot.
Simultaneously, extensive checking and raid operations were carried out at hotels, dhabas and suspected liquor points in the Bikaner zone. Raids conducted in Bikaner city, Sriganganagar, Sangaria, Nohar, Churu, Raisinghnagar and Suratgarh led to the destruction of 1,800 litres of wash and five liquor-making stills. The teams also seized 27 beer bottles, 54 pouches of country liquor and 34 litres of illegal hand-made liquor, while seven accused were arrested during the operation.

The Jaipur Rural Excise team launched a major operation in the Chaksu region, targeting villages including Madhogarh, Tunga, Bagriyan, Narayan Baba ki Dhani and the Dhundh river area. During the raids, officials destroyed 25,000 litres of fermented wash, dismantled 15 liquor-making stills and related equipment, and seized 70 litres of illegal homemade liquor.
Further enforcement action was taken in Kekri, where excise officials destroyed 200 litres of wash and seized 2 litres of hand-made liquor. In the Beawar Excise Police Station area, teams destroyed 400 litres of wash, dismantled three old stills, and recovered six bottles of illegal homemade liquor.
In Jodhpur city, Jodhpur rural, Jodhpur West and Sardarpura, excise teams seized 58 cans of beer, 87 quarters of country liquor, 19 quarters of IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) and 4 litres of hand-made liquor during intensive checking operations.
The enforcement drive also extended to Kota district, where teams in the Ramganj Mandi area destroyed two furnaces and 700 litres of wash used for illicit liquor production. In Chirawa, Jhunjhunu, officials seized 576 quarters of illegal liquor, while in Pali City, one person was arrested for possession of illicit liquor.
In a separate anti-smuggling operation at Kishangarh Railway Station, excise officials recovered 24 cans of Haryana-made beer, indicating attempts to transport liquor across state jurisdictions without authorisation.
The Rajasthan Excise Department said the statewide crackdown will continue with intensified surveillance, raids and coordinated enforcement operations to curb illicit liquor manufacturing, interstate liquor smuggling and illegal alcohol sales, while protecting public health and preventing revenue loss to the state exchequer.
