Balasore: The excise department officials have seized a huge cache of illicit liquor from a truck on NH-16 near Khantapara in Balasore district and arrested three persons in this connection.
The arrestees have been identified as Sheikh Abu Rahim (24), Ananta Majhi (27), and Raju Chaudhry.
Acting on reliable input, the officials intercepted the vehicle on NH-26 and seized over 10,000 litres of illicit liquor from the truck. The estimated value of the seized items is around Rs 10 lakh, sources said.
According to a preliminary investigation, it is learned that the liquor was being smuggled to Bhadrak from Balasore. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
