Beer consignment allegedly meant for Gujarat was concealed inside specially fabricated cavities of a trailer on the Bharatmala Expressway
Barmer, Rajasthan: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor smuggling, Rajasthan Police seized 2,248 cans of Kingfisher beer concealed inside specially built secret compartments of a trailer on the Bharatmala Expressway in Barmer district. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for allegedly attempting to transport the beer illegally to Gujarat, where alcohol prohibition is in force.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Dhanau Police Station and the District Special Team (DST) after receiving specific intelligence about the smuggling attempt.

Hidden Compartments Discovered During Inspection
According to Barmer Superintendent of Police Chunaram Jat, the trailer initially appeared to be empty during routine inspection. However, acting on suspicion, police officers used cutting tools and hammers to dismantle specially fabricated hidden cavities inside the trailer.
The search resulted in the recovery of 2,248 cans of Rajasthan-manufactured Kingfisher beer, which investigators believe were being transported illegally across the state border into Gujarat.
Driver Arrested, Trailer Seized
The accused has been identified as Genaram Jat (26), son of Asuram Jat and a resident of Ratasar village under the Bijrad Police Station area in Barmer district.
Police arrested the driver on the spot and seized the trailer used for transporting the concealed liquor.
Case Registered Under Rajasthan Excise Act
Officials said the beer was allegedly being transported without a valid licence or permit. A case has been registered under the Rajasthan Excise Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police are now probing the source of the beer consignment, its intended recipients in Gujarat, and the possible involvement of an organized liquor smuggling network operating across state borders.
The seizure is part of ongoing efforts by Rajasthan Police and the Excise Department to curb the illegal transportation of liquor into prohibition states such as Gujarat.
