India’s Craft Beer Market Set to Hit $1 Billion
India’s craft beer market is fast growing and is expected to reach nearly $1 billion by FY27, up from around $600 million in FY26. The growth is being driven by unique and premium brews like honey ales and tea-infused beers.
Urban consumers are increasingly exploring new flavours, moving beyond traditional lagers. Breweries are experimenting with local ingredients such as citrus, tea, and fruits to create more experience-driven beers.
Brands like Goa-based Maka Di are leading this trend, offering innovative blends that focus on taste as well as storytelling.

Although craft and premium beers make up less than 3% of total beer volumes, they contribute nearly half of the market’s growth. These segments are expanding at over 20% annually, much faster than regular beers, which grow at around 4–6%.
Industry experts say this is not just growth in numbers, but a clear shift in how Indians are choosing and enjoying their beer.
