Jamshedpur: Jharkhand has achieved a major financial milestone, with its Excise Department collecting a record ₹4,013.53 crore in 2025–26—the highest ever for the state. This is a big jump from the previous record of around ₹2,700 crore.
Officials say the growth reflects better governance, stronger monitoring, and improved efficiency in the excise system.
A key reason behind this surge is strict action against illegal liquor activities. The department carried out regular raids and tightened surveillance to stop unlawful production, transport, and sale, helping reduce revenue losses.

Technology has also played an important role. Digital tracking systems now monitor liquor movement from production to retail, improving transparency and reducing chances of malpractice.
Policy changes have further boosted revenue. The new excise policy revised license fees and duties, while also making the system more transparent and competitive. Increased participation in liquor retail operations has also added to the collections.
The government believes this record revenue will strengthen Jharkhand’s finances and support development and welfare projects, with expectations of continued growth in the coming years.
