Hollywood star Johnny Depp has officially entered the spirits industry with the launch of his premium brand, Three Hearts Rum. The actor celebrated the launch at a star-studded event held at The Ebell Theater in Los Angeles on March 31, alongside his business partner Bobby DeLeon.
Speaking at the event, Depp added a playful touch by saying the rum is “100% approved” by his iconic character Captain Jack Sparrow, even mimicking the character’s style during interactions with the media.
Three Hearts Rum is a carefully crafted blend, aged for five years in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished for two additional years in ex-cognac casks, making it a seven-year-old rum. Guests at the launch were invited to taste the spirit neat or enjoy specially curated cocktails such as the “3 Hearts Libre” and the “Charred Piña Mojito,” paired with gourmet food.
The evening also featured a live performance by Matteo Bocelli and was attended by several well-known personalities, including producer Jerry Bruckheimer and musicians Steven Tyler and Beck.

Depp revealed that the name “Three Hearts” is deeply personal, inspired by his family—his former partner Vanessa Paradis and his children Lily-Rose and Jack. He even showcased a tattoo representing the three hearts, highlighting the emotional connection behind the brand.
The actor also shared that his family has tasted the rum and responded positively, though in a lighthearted manner. Beyond business, Depp mentioned that the venture is partly aimed at supporting Caribbean communities, which are often affected by hurricanes and tropical storms.
Three Hearts Rum is produced in the Dominican Republic and reflects Depp’s appreciation for the region’s rich rum-making heritage. He emphasized that rum carries the history and craftsmanship of the islands, and the brand aims to honor that tradition.
Priced at $69.99, the rum is now available for purchase online, marking Depp’s latest move into the growing celebrity-backed alcohol market.
