UP Excise Department Records ₹4,458 Crore Revenue in June 2025, Achieves 20% Growth in Q1 of FY 2025-26

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Excise and Prohibition Minister Shri Nitin Agrawal announced that the Excise Department collected ₹4,458.22 crore in revenue during June 2025. This marks a significant increase of ₹1,027.02 crore or over 30% compared to June 2024, when the department collected ₹3,431.20 crore.

In the first quarter of the financial year 2025–26 (April to June), the department has earned ₹14,229 crore — achieving 98.8% of the set revenue target of ₹14,400 crore. This also represents a 20% growth over the ₹11,783.76 crore collected during the same period in the previous financial year.

Growth Driven by Reforms in Excise Policy

  • This remarkable growth is a result of major reforms introduced under the new Excise Policy of Uttar Pradesh. Key changes include:
  • Composite Licensing System for beer and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL),
  • Mandatory use of Point-of-Sale (POS) systems and e-billing,
  • A completely digital licensing process, enhancing transparency and ease of doing business.

These structured policy reforms have improved compliance and operational efficiency across the alcoholic beverages sector, demonstrating how well-planned regulatory changes can boost both revenue collection and industry growth.
