Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major manufacturing hub for the beverage packaging industry, with global aluminium can manufacturers Ball Corporation and Crown Holdings moving ahead with significant investment plans in the state. Senior delegations from both companies recently met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in separate meetings, highlighting the growing interest of global packaging companies in the state’s industrial and logistics infrastructure.
Ball Corporation CEO Ron Lewis, along with senior company executives, met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss the company’s proposed investment in Uttar Pradesh. Ball’s Indian subsidiary, Ball Beverage Packaging India Pvt. Ltd., has selected land at the Integrated Manufacturing & Logistics Cluster (IMLC) in Meerut for a large aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility. The proposed project represents an investment of approximately ₹2,913 crore and is expected to strengthen the state’s beverage packaging manufacturing capabilities.
The Ball project has been extended incentives under Uttar Pradesh’s FDI/FCI, Fortune Global 500 & Fortune India 500 Companies Investment Promotion Policy 2023. The company’s decision to select land at IMLC Meerut is being viewed as an important step towards establishing a large-scale manufacturing base in the state. The investment also reflects the increasing interest of multinational companies in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial clusters, logistics infrastructure and investment-support ecosystem.
During the meeting, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) and CEO of UPEIDA Deepak Kumar, along with Invest UP Additional CEO Shashank Chaudhry, were also present. Discussions around the project underline the state’s efforts to attract large manufacturing investments and develop integrated industrial infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also met a senior delegation from Crown Holdings, comprising Djalma Novaes, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and Mark Ketcheson, President, Bevcan EMEA. The meeting followed the groundbreaking ceremony for Crown Holdings’ first greenfield aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh at IMLC Unnao.
The Crown Holdings project involves an investment of approximately ₹2,078.44 crore and will be developed across nearly 40 acres at Plot No. 4 of IMLC Unnao. The facility will manufacture aluminium beverage cans to cater to the growing requirements of India’s beverage industry. The project is expected to generate more than 200 direct employment opportunities and over 1,500 indirect jobs through logistics, warehousing, transportation, maintenance, supplier networks and other ancillary activities.
Together, the two projects represent proposed investments of nearly ₹4,992 crore in Uttar Pradesh’s aluminium beverage can manufacturing sector. The investments are particularly significant as demand for packaged beverages, including carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks and other ready-to-drink products, continues to support demand for modern beverage packaging solutions.
The entry and expansion of global can manufacturers such as Ball Corporation and Crown Holdings could also create opportunities for a wider network of suppliers and ancillary businesses in Uttar Pradesh. Manufacturing units, logistics providers, transportation companies, warehousing operators and other industrial service providers could benefit from the development of these large-scale facilities.
The two projects further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as an investment destination for global manufacturing companies. With integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters such as those in Meerut and Unnao, the state is seeking to attract investments across manufacturing and supply-chain-intensive sectors while creating employment and supporting the development of industrial ecosystems.
