Bangkok, July 2026: The International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI) participated in the APISWA 2026 Conference themed “Promoting Moderation in Asia-Pacific,” held in Bangkok, joining trade associations and industry leaders from across the region for a focused exchange on responsible alcohol consumption, public health policy and the collective Road to 2030 framework for reducing harmful drinking.
The conference brought together representatives from spirits and wine trade associations spanning India, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan and Australia — all united under the Asia Pacific International Spirits and Wines Alliance (APISWA), a coalition of leading global producers committed to evidence-based alcohol policy and responsible drinking advocacy. ISWAI was represented at a panel discussion titled “Raising Standards: Building,” which examined how industry associations can strengthen local advocacy capabilities and deepen collaboration with governments, civil society and public health bodies.
Chandreyee Bose Gogoi, Director Communications, ISWAI, was part of the panel alongside Shutchade Chandrangsu, Chairperson of the Thai Foundation for Responsible Drinking, and Giang Trinh, Vice Chair of the Vietnam Beverages Association, among others. ISWAI used the platform to showcase its flagship responsibility campaign — “I Pledge to Never Drink and Drive” — which has reached over 1.6 lakh people across India with messages of moderate and responsible consumption.

APISWA’s Road to 2030 framework, which tracks industry progress towards the World Health Organisation’s goal of a 20 per cent reduction in harmful alcohol consumption globally by 2030, formed the central policy backdrop of the conference. Discussions focused on three broad areas — advancing the Alcohol and Health agenda, promoting moderation, and strengthening local advocacy capabilities across member markets. The conference also examined how industry bodies can more effectively engage with regulators and communities to build a culture of responsible consumption beyond urban centres.
For ISWAI, which represents global spirits and wine majors operating in India including Bacardi, Diageo, Suntory Global Spirits and Moët Hennessy, the Bangkok participation reflects a broader shift in how the Indian premium spirits industry is engaging with global responsible drinking conversations. India’s alcobev sector has seen rapid premiumisation over the past few years, with rising consumption among younger urban consumers — making responsible drinking education and public awareness an increasingly critical component of industry strategy alongside commercial growth.
ISWAI’s core philosophy — “Drink Less, Drink Better” — aligns directly with APISWA’s moderation agenda, and the association’s continued participation in regional forums signals its intent to position India’s premium spirits industry as an active and credible contributor to Asia-Pacific’s responsible drinking ecosystem.
