Caribbean premium beer brand Carib Brewery marked its growing presence in India with a grand event in Lucknow, celebrating the shared cultural connection between India and the Caribbean. The special “Meet & Greet” programme, held at a prominent venue in the city, featured two of cricket’s biggest Caribbean stars—Nicholas Pooran and Dwayne Bravo—who were officially introduced as the brand’s global ambassadors.
The event highlighted the close relationship between cricket and culture, two passions that unite India and the Caribbean region. Pooran, a leading player in the Indian Premier League, and Bravo, one of the most celebrated figures in T20 cricket, were chosen to strengthen the brand’s connection with Indian consumers.
Lucknow was selected as the venue because of Pooran’s strong association with the city through his IPL franchise, making it an ideal location for the celebration.

India a Key Market for Expansion
Carib Brewery is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary and views India as one of its most promising international growth markets. The company plans to further expand its footprint across additional Indian states as well as select international markets in the coming years.
Company officials stated that the initiative reflects the growing ambition of brands from smaller island nations to establish a strong presence on the global stage through strategic partnerships and cultural engagement.
Entry into India Through Strategic Partnership
Carib entered the Indian market in 2025 through Globus Ensa Private Limited, a joint venture between Caribbean beverage interests and Globus Spirits Limited.
The beer is positioned as a full-bodied premium strong beer containing 8% alcohol by volume. According to the company, its flavour profile pairs well with Indian cuisine and local taste preferences.
Currently, the product is available in major Uttar Pradesh cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj. A 500 ml can is priced at approximately ₹130–₹140.
Company representatives emphasized that the launch is not merely the introduction of another international beer brand but the beginning of a long-term effort to create a brand that resonates with Indian consumers. They noted that cricket and carnival culture form the foundation of the partnership and marketing strategy.
Uttar Pradesh Government Approves Revised Production Capacity Structure for Globus Spirits
In a separate development, the Uttar Pradesh Government has granted formal approval to a revised production-capacity proposal submitted by Globus Spirits Limited for its distillery unit located in the Mitouli tehsil of Lakhimpur Kheri district.
According to the government order, the decision was taken after considering the state’s revenue interests, industrial development objectives, investment promotion, and employment-generation potential.
Grain-Based Plant Capacity
The distillery operates on a dual-feedstock model using both grain and molasses. Under the revised structure, the grain-based plant has a total capacity of 100 KLPD, equivalent to approximately 350 lakh litres annually.
The approved restructuring reduces potable alcohol production capacity from 245 lakh litres (70%) to 175 lakh litres (50%), while industrial alcohol capacity has been increased from 105 lakh litres to 175 lakh litres annually.
Molasses-Based Plant Capacity
The molasses (C-heavy) based unit has a capacity of 80 KLPD, equivalent to around 280 lakh litres annually. Under the approved arrangement, both potable alcohol and industrial alcohol capacities have been fixed at 140 lakh litres each.
Boost for Industrial Alcohol and Ethanol Production
The revised capacity allocation is expected to support greater industrial activity in the region while creating a better balance between potable alcohol and ethanol-oriented industrial alcohol production.
The move is also expected to strengthen supplies of industrial-grade products such as Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA), Rectified Spirit (RS), Special Denatured Spirit (SDS) and Denatured Alcohol (DA) to other distilleries and industrial users.
Industry observers believe the approval will contribute to increased investment, improved production flexibility, and stronger growth prospects for Uttar Pradesh’s expanding distillery and ethanol sectors.
