Pernod Ricard brand Seagram’s Xclamation Mixers has captured the attention of young consumers with an innovative digital campaign that temporarily removed the exclamation mark “!” from mobile keyboards, creating widespread curiosity and online engagement.
The campaign was designed to highlight the brand’s central philosophy of adding excitement and expression to everyday conversations. By partnering with Bobble AI, the brand disabled the “!” symbol on millions of mobile keyboards for a day, leaving users puzzled as their messages suddenly appeared less expressive.
Simple greetings like “Good Morning” and “Hey” lost their emotional punch without the exclamation mark, encouraging users to discuss the unusual change across social media platforms. The campaign quickly gained traction online, with the hashtag #WhatsLifeWithoutXclamation becoming one of the top trending topics on X in India.
Several well-known influencers and digital creators, including Kusha Kapila, Rahul Dua, Srishti Dixit, Tanmay Singh and Mohak Narang joined the campaign by posting humorous reactions to the disappearing punctuation mark, further amplifying the conversation among younger audiences.

After generating massive engagement online, Seagram’s Xclamation Mixers restored the exclamation mark to keyboards, symbolically “bringing excitement back” to conversations while officially announcing the brand launch.
Speaking about the campaign, Debasree Dasgupta, chief marketing officer at Pernod Ricard India, said the exclamation mark is deeply embedded in the brand identity and represents youthful energy and expression. According to her, the campaign aimed to help consumers directly experience the emotional difference created by the “!” symbol in everyday communication.
Creative agency Ogilvy also played a key role in conceptualising the campaign. Prakash Nair, president at Ogilvy, explained that the idea emerged from a simple question — what happens when expression disappears from conversations? Removing the exclamation mark created a playful yet impactful demonstration of the brand’s essence.
Media agency WPP Media described the campaign as a strong example of creativity combined with smart media execution. Ajay Gupte, president of WPP Media South Asia, noted that the campaign successfully transformed a simple punctuation symbol into a large-scale cultural conversation, helping introduce the brand to millions of consumers.
Meanwhile, Bobble AI CEO Ankit Prasad said the collaboration showcased an innovative use of technology-driven marketing and generated remarkable engagement across the platform’s user ecosystem.
Renee Mitra, executive vice president at Blink Digital, added that the campaign resonated strongly with younger consumers because it encouraged participation and conversation rather than simply pushing advertisements.
With this unconventional activation, Seagram’s Xclamation Mixers has positioned itself as a youth-focused brand that blends creativity, technology and digital culture to create memorable consumer experiences.
