LONDON / NEW DELHI: Global brewing major HEINEKEN has officially entered the fast-growing functional drinks segment with the launch of its new alcohol-free beer brand, Outd00r Brewing, in the United Kingdom. The move marks HEINEKEN’s first major step into combining non-alcoholic beer with hydration and wellness benefits, reflecting the rapid evolution of the global low-and-no alcohol (NoLo) beverage market.
Launched across the UK through premium retail chains including Waitrose, Ocado, and David Lloyd Leisure Clubs, Outd00r Brewing introduces alcohol-free lagers infused with electrolytes, magnesium, Vitamin C, and sea salt — ingredients commonly associated with sports recovery and hydration drinks.
Unlike traditional non-alcoholic beers that mainly focus on taste replication, Outd00r Brewing has been positioned as a “functional lager” designed to support hydration and post-activity recovery. The beverages are developed as isotonic-style drinks, meaning they are formulated to help the body absorb fluids quickly and maintain electrolyte balance.

The new range debuts in two gluten-free variants packaged in 330ml cans:
• Hydration Original Lager — a low-calorie alcohol-free lager made with malted barley, hop extracts, magnesium, and electrolytes.
• Hydration Lemon — a fruit-infused variant containing lemon, lime, orange, and acerola juice blends, aimed at consumers seeking lighter and refreshing drinking occasions.
The product’s wellness-focused ingredient profile includes magnesium for muscle recovery, Vitamin C sourced naturally from acerola fruit powder to support immunity, and sea salt for hydration support.
The launch comes at a time when the global “sober curious” movement is rapidly reshaping alcohol consumption habits, particularly among younger consumers. Industry data indicates that nearly half of modern consumers are actively trying to reduce alcohol intake, while demand for non-alcoholic beverages continues to rise sharply across Europe and North America.
HEINEKEN UK’s Beyond Beer Division said consumers are increasingly seeking beverages that offer both social and functional benefits, especially among active lifestyle communities such as gym groups, running clubs, and wellness-focused consumers.
The brand has launched in the UK with a suggested retail price of around GBP 2 per can (approximately US$ 2.70).
The introduction of Outd00r Brewing also aligns with HEINEKEN’s broader global expansion in the alcohol-free category. Earlier this year, the company introduced Heineken 0.0 Ultimate in markets including the United States and Poland, featuring zero alcohol, zero sugar, and zero calories.
With Outd00r Brewing, HEINEKEN is now moving beyond conventional non-alcoholic beer by blending brewing with sports hydration and wellness positioning — a trend that could redefine the future direction of the global beer industry.
