New Delhi, May 2026: Global spirits company Brown-Forman has announced the launch of The Glendronach in India, marking its entry into the country’s growing luxury and super-premium single malt whisky segment. The company has introduced The Glendronach’s core Highland single malt range in India, including the 12 Years, 15 Years and 18 Years expressions.
Founded in 1826 in Scotland’s “Valley of Brambles,” The Glendronach is recognised globally for its traditional sherry cask maturation process. Produced in the north-east Highlands of Scotland, the single malts are matured mainly in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks sourced from Andalucía, Spain. The distillery said this maturation style gives the whiskies rich flavour profiles with layers of dark fruit, spice, oak and long-lasting depth.
Industry experts say India’s premium whisky market has witnessed strong growth in recent years, driven by rising disposable incomes, evolving consumer preferences and increasing demand for premium international spirits. The single malt category, in particular, has gained momentum among urban consumers, collectors and whisky enthusiasts seeking distinctive flavour profiles and heritage-driven brands.

The India portfolio includes three expressions aimed at showcasing different flavour characteristics of The Glendronach range. The 12 Years expression offers notes of sherried fruits, gingerbread, chocolate praline and orange peel, while the 15 Years variant features flavours of maraschino cherry, walnut liqueur and dark chocolate mint. The 18 Years expression, matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks, delivers notes of stewed fruits, tobacco and toasted walnut bread with an extended finish. All variants are bottled using natural cask-imparted colour.
1,230 × 630The whiskies are crafted under the guidance of Dr. Rachel Barrie, who visited India as part of the launch programme. Speaking during the India launch, Barrie said The Glendronach offers layered flavour complexity and depth that continue to evolve with every sip. She added that Indian consumers are increasingly appreciating nuanced and richly crafted single malt whiskies.
Gaurav Sabharwal said the launch represents an important step in Brown-Forman’s premiumisation strategy in India and further strengthens the company’s position in the luxury spirits market. He noted that Indian consumers are showing growing interest in provenance, craftsmanship and differentiated flavour experiences.
Vinay Joshi said The Glendronach brings a heritage-rich and flavour-led proposition to India’s expanding community of single malt Scotch consumers. He added that evolving consumer palates are creating greater appreciation for cask influence, origin and layered whisky character.
To mark its India debut, The Glendronach hosted launch events in Mumbai and New Delhi featuring curated tastings and storytelling sessions focused on maturation techniques, cask influence and flavour development. The brand is currently available in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Chandigarh, with further expansion planned across India through 2026.
