Greater Noida: Gautam Budh Nagar has generated around ₹28 crore in revenue after allotting 30 liquor shops through the latest e-lottery process under the 2026–27 excise policy. The round saw massive interest, with more than 4,000 applicants competing for a limited number of outlets.
Officials said the district received the highest number of applications in Uttar Pradesh during this phase. Out of 4,047 total applications, the majority—3,535—were for 24 country liquor shops. Additionally, 507 applications were received for two composite shops, while five applicants applied for four premium model shops.
District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar said the strong response highlights both the business potential and growing demand in the region, especially for country liquor outlets where competition was intense.

The entire allocation process was conducted online through an e-lottery system to ensure transparency and fairness. The draw was held in the presence of officials and displayed live on LED screens, giving all applicants an equal chance.
Officials added that the ₹28 crore revenue from this phase provides a strong start to the excise year. This round mainly covered remaining and newly created shops, completing a major part of the licensing process.
In comparison, during 2025–26, the district had received over 18,000 applications for more than 500 shops in the first phase—when the e-lottery system was not in place.
