Jammu, April 26: The Excise Commissioner of Jammu & Kashmir, Vaibhav Kohli, carried out surprise inspections at several liquor manufacturing units in Samba district to review their operations and ensure they are following the rules under the J&K Excise Policy and Distillery Regulations.
According to officials, the inspections are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen monitoring and ensure strict compliance across the excise sector. During the visit, the Commissioner closely examined production processes, records, storage systems, and documentation maintained by the units. He also checked whether the units were following quality standards, maintaining proper stock records, and operating within their licensed capacity.
The inspection team also reviewed safety measures and steps taken to prevent revenue loss. The Commissioner instructed unit operators to maintain full transparency and keep accurate, real-time records of production and dispatch.

While interacting with unit management, Kohli stressed the importance of strictly following the excise policy. He said the rules are meant not only to regulate the industry but also to protect government revenue and ensure the production of quality liquor. He warned that any violation would lead to strict action, including penalties or cancellation of licenses.
The Commissioner issued a strong warning to all units to comply fully with the rules, adding that the department will step up inspections and will not tolerate negligence or deliberate violations.
