New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered a detailed audit of liquor retail operations run by government agencies over the last five years, following concerns about possible financial irregularities.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, some records were not properly checked or matched for long periods, raising the risk of errors and potential losses to government funds. The CM has made it clear that any negligence, accounting mismatch, or financial mismanagement will not be tolerated.
Liquor retail in Delhi is currently managed by government bodies such as DCCWS, DTTDC, DSCSC, and DSIIDC, which operate outlets across the city.

Each entry will be closely examined, and the excise department will work alongside these agencies to ensure full verification. The excise commissioner will also independently cross-check data on sales and revenue.
The government aims to not only correct past records but also strengthen financial monitoring systems going forward. Strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for discrepancies or revenue loss.
All departments have been asked to complete the audit and submit a detailed report within two months.
