Bacardi has officially launched ‘Legacy,’ its first Indian whisky, marking its entry into the competitive whisky market. The brand will be available in key states including Goa, Pondicherry, Jharkhand, Odisha, Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, and Rajasthan.
Introduced in 2022, Legacy combines Indian and Scottish malts with local grains, resulting in a smooth whisky designed for Indian tastes. Since its debut, it has gained popularity for its unique flavor. This expansion is part of Bacardi’s strategy to grow in India.
Vinay Golikeri, Bacardi’s Managing Director in India, expressed excitement about the launch, emphasizing the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to Indian consumers. He noted that Legacy has struck a chord with modern whisky enthusiasts looking for high-quality local options, prompting Bacardi to invest further and expand its reach.
India is one of the fastest-growing markets for alcoholic beverages, with whisky consumption rising significantly over the past few decades. Bacardi aims to take advantage of this trend by making Legacy more widely available to meet the demand for premium Indian whisky.
Ayaesha Gooptu, the Category Head for Domestic Browns & RTD at Bacardi, highlighted the increasing popularity of local whiskies in India. She described Legacy as a blend that embodies a distinctly Indian flavor, appealing to the growing community of whisky lovers. Legacy will be sold in three sizes: 750ml, 375ml, and 180ml.
