In the Bihar hooch tragedy, the death toll has risen to 25, with many others hospitalized, some of whom have lost their eyesight

In response to the tragic hooch incident in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible. Meanwhile, both the Congress and RJD parties have criticized the government for failing to curb illegal liquor sales in the state.

As of October 17, 2024, the death toll has reached 25, with many others hospitalized, some of whom have lost their eyesight. The tragedy unfolded in Siwan and Saran districts, where at least six people died after allegedly consuming toxic liquor.

The Director General of Police, Alok Raj, reported that 20 of the deaths occurred in Siwan and five in Saran. He confirmed that 12 individuals have been arrested for their involvement in selling the spurious liquor, and they will face severe legal consequences.
