The International Spirits and Wines Association of India (ISWAI) is urging for responsible alcobev consumption to further enhance the celebration of our extravagant Indian weddings.

Ms. Nita Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ISWAI, emphasizes the importance of recognizing that alcobev products have varying alcohol content levels. She points out a common misconception that lower alcohol content indicates a milder product, clarifying that this belief stems from a lack of understanding about alcohol composition.

Mr. Suresh Menon, Secretary-General of ISWAI, highlights the misconception surrounding alcohol content labeling. He explains that while alcoholic products display their alcohol-by-volume (ABV), indicating the percentage of alcohol in the entire SKU, consumers might mistakenly assume that lower ABV drinks are milder. However, standard serving sizes contain the same amount of pure alcohol, regardless of ABV.

Ms. Kapoor further illustrates this point, emphasizing that different beverages with varying ABVs can contain the same amount of pure alcohol per standard serving. Therefore, consuming multiple glasses of lower-ABV drinks can result in a higher alcohol intake compared to consuming a smaller quantity of a higher-ABV product.

ISWAI emphasizes the importance of moderation in alcobev consumption when selecting your preferred drink. What you consume, how much you consume, and how often you consume all play a crucial role in responsible revelry.

A successful wedding celebration is one where cherished memories are made without compromising anyone’s well-being. Let’s raise our glasses in a toast to love, happiness, and responsible revelry!
