MP Excise Policy: Reduced liquor prices in this state, can also open bars at home

Indore: The financial year 2021-22 (FY22) is now less than two and a half months away. Many rules change as the new fiscal year begins. State governments generally change the excise policy every financial year. The excise policy is going to be under major changes this time for the people of Madhya Pradesh. English liquor will become cheaper in the state as soon as the cabinet approved policy comes into force this week. At the same time, the limit for keeping alcohol at home is also going to increase. From April 1, MP people will be able to keep 4 thongs of beer and 24 bottles of wine in the house.

The retail prices of English liquor have been reduced by 20 per cent in the MP government’s excise policy 2022-23. In addition, the government has allowed the retail sale of liquor at all airports in the state and in supermarkets in 4 major cities of Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior. At the same time, the government has also allowed the opening of bars at home. However, these permissions will be available only to those whose annual income is more than Rs 1 crore. Will have to pay 50,000/- per annum for this.

The same new excise policy empowers the district level high power to replace liquor shops if required. The committee consists of district officers and MLAs. The government has also increased the limit for people to keep liquor at home. Currently, 1 thong beer and 6 bottles of wine are allowed at home in the region. This limit has been increased by 4 times.
