Noida: Glass packaging major AGI Greenpac has formally entered the aluminium beverage can business, unveiling its new brand AGI Cann at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2026 in Greater Noida. The company will supply cans to both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage makers, with commercial production scheduled to begin in July 2027.
The launch took place at the trade show inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. AGI Cann was presented as the newest addition to the AGI Greenpac group, with its can range displayed live at the company’s stall. The Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department, who also serves as CEO of Invest UP, visited the stall along with government officials and industry representatives.

The cans will be manufactured at AGI Greenpac’s greenfield plant in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, where construction began earlier this year. The project carries an investment of around ₹1,000 crore and is spread across 34 acres. The plant will start with two production lines having a combined capacity of 1.6 billion cans a year, with initial output targeted at 1.3 billion cans. Each line can later be upgraded to 1 billion cans, taking total potential capacity beyond 2 billion cans annually.

AIBA Launches New Website to Strengthen Digital Presence of Indian Brewing IndustryFor the AlcoBev industry, the development is significant. The plant will produce standard, sleek and slim can formats covering beer, ready-to-drink beverages, energy drinks and carbonated soft drinks. Its location in Uttar Pradesh places it close to major consumption markets in North and Central India, which the company expects to support just-in-time supply for brewers and beverage companies.
Rajesh Khosla, CEO, AGI Greenpac, had said at the plant’s groundbreaking that the investment reflects the company’s “deep conviction in India’s growth trajectory.”
With this move, AGI Greenpac becomes one of the few Indian companies offering both glass and aluminium packaging at scale. The company is already a key supplier of glass bottles to the liquor industry.
India’s domestic aluminium can manufacturing capacity currently stands at about 3.9 billion cans a year and is expected to grow at a double-digit rate, driven by premiumisation, rising urban consumption and the shift towards recyclable packaging. AGI Greenpac is not the only player expanding in the state. CANPACK Group is separately investing about ₹1,300 crore in a can facility in Unnao.
The Hathras facility is being built to achieve a Platinum Green Building rating. Aluminium can be recycled repeatedly without losing quality, a factor the company has positioned at the centre of the AGI Cann brand.
