Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh recorded a 45.4% increase in excise exports during the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, with the state’s share in India’s overall excise exports rising to 12.6%, according to data released by the Uttar Pradesh Excise Department.
Excise product exports from Uttar Pradesh during April-June 2026 were valued at approximately $12.78 million, compared with $8.79 million during the corresponding period of the previous year. In comparison, India’s overall excise exports increased by 18.3% during the same period, indicating faster growth in Uttar Pradesh’s export activity.
The state’s share of national excise exports increased from 10.2% to 12.6%, placing Uttar Pradesh in third position nationally, behind Maharashtra and Punjab. The rise reflects increased outward movement of excise-related products as manufacturing and production activity in the state’s beverage sector expands.

According to the Excise Department, several new and expanded manufacturing operations are contributing to the sector’s growth. United Breweries is setting up a manufacturing facility in Unnao, while Mount Everest Breweries is establishing a unit in Hardoi. Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients has commissioned a facility in Farrukhabad, while Allied Blenders and Distillers has restarted operations at a previously closed unit in Moradabad.
Uttar Pradesh Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal said the state also exported 25,000 quintals of molasses from Basti, generating around $500,000 in revenue. However, the molasses shipment was not included in the excise export figures because molasses is classified under a separate tariff category.
The state’s outward supply of liquor products to other states has also increased. Between April and July 2026, excise units in Uttar Pradesh supplied an additional 1.64 crore bottles to other states, representing a 45.7% increase compared with the year-ago period.
Officials attributed part of the growth to the state’s three-year Excise Export Policy 2026-29, which is aimed at supporting the expansion of Uttar Pradesh’s excise manufacturing and inter-state supply base. The latest figures indicate increasing production capacity and a growing role for the state in India’s broader excise product export and distribution network.
