DeVANS Modern Breweries, the Jammu-based maker of popular beer brands Godfather and Six Fields, is aiming to sustain strong volume growth through its recent entry into Maharashtra and expansion via strategic production partnerships across India.
The company is also preparing to strengthen its presence in premium alcoholic beverage categories and plans to enter the rapidly growing gin segment as part of its broader diversification strategy.
According to company officials, DeVANS has witnessed significant growth in beer production over the past few years. In an interaction with media, Prem Dewan said the company’s total beer sales volumes increased sharply from 38,174 kilolitres (KL) in FY22 to nearly 96,893 KL in FY26, reflecting growth of more than 250 percent during the period.

The growth was supported by increased production tie-ups across multiple states along with the continued market performance of the Godfather beer brand in key regions. Industry observers note that regional expansion and contract manufacturing partnerships are becoming increasingly important strategies for Indian beer companies looking to improve scale and distribution efficiency.
DeVANS said it plans to continue expanding through production partnerships rather than setting up large greenfield manufacturing units immediately. The company has already initiated production expansion through a partnership with Privilege Industries in Maharashtra and is evaluating at least one additional production tie-up during the current year to further increase output capacity.
The Maharashtra market is considered strategically important for beer manufacturers due to its large urban consumer base, tourism sector, and strong demand for premium alcoholic beverages. Industry analysts believe DeVANS’ entry into the state could help the company strengthen its national footprint and improve access to western India’s growing beer market.

Apart from strengthening its core beer business, the company also expects faster growth in premium and craft-oriented beverage segments. DeVANS is preparing to enter the gin category, which has seen rising popularity among urban consumers in India over the last few years, particularly among younger demographics seeking premium and experimental spirits.
DeVANS competes with several major domestic and international beer companies operating in India, including United Breweries Limited, maker of Kingfisher, and AB InBev, which markets brands such as Budweiser and Corona in the country. Other large players in the Indian beer market include Carlsberg India.
With beer consumption gradually recovering and premiumisation trends continuing across India’s alcoholic beverage sector, DeVANS is positioning itself for long-term growth through regional expansion, contract manufacturing partnerships, and portfolio diversification into emerging categories like gin.
