Liquor Prices in Chandigarh to Increase Slightly from April 1

Buying alcohol in Chandigarh will become a little more expensive starting April 1, as the city administration introduces its Excise Policy for 2026–27.

Under the new policy, the prices of country liquor, Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), and beer will increase by about 2%. The revised prices will apply to all liquor shops in the city from the beginning of the new financial year.

However, imported wine and foreign liquor will not be included in this price increase for now, which means customers who prefer international brands will not see any change in prices.

Officials say the increase will be small and manageable for consumers. For example:

  • A bottle currently costing ₹500 may become ₹10–₹15 more expensive.

  • A premium bottle priced around ₹2,000 could cost ₹40–₹45 more.

Overall, the new policy will lead to a minor rise in liquor prices, mainly affecting locally produced alcohol and beer in Chandigarh.
