UP Excise Investors Summit 2025 Highlights Export Push for Alcohol Industry

Lucknow: On 9th July 2025, a successful one-day Investors Summit was organized by the Excise Department of Uttar Pradesh at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, under the leadership of Hon’ble Excise Minister Shri Nitin Agarwal.

In his opening speech, the Excise Minister warmly welcomed investors, delegates, and media representatives for attending in large numbers. He highlighted the continuous efforts of his department in increasing excise revenue, which reached ₹50,000 crore in 2024–25.

Other key achievements mentioned by the Minister included improvements in ease of doing business, adoption of best practices, effective control over illicit liquor, and better law and order enforcement.

The main theme of the summit was the Exports of Alcoholic Beverages from Uttar Pradesh to the Rest of the World.

Following the Minister’s address, and under the dynamic guidance of UP Excise Commissioner Dr. Adarsh Singh, four insightful and interactive panel discussions were held throughout the day, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to deliberate on key opportunities and challenges facing UP’s growing alcohol industry.
Dr. Singh moderated the discussions on the following topics:
  • Export promotion of UP’s Alcohol Industry
  • Government policies—present and future support
  • Breweries, distilleries, and local fruit wine-based units
  • Success stories of UP’s alcohol industry

Dr. Adarsh Singh’s active participation in all panel discussions was thought-provoking and appreciated by all delegates. His inclusive approach, which involved inviting other UP government departments like UP Tourism, Industries, and Invest UP, added further value to the discussions.

The highlight of the day was the active participation of APEDA, represented by Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev and COO Shri Tarun Bajaj. Both of them motivated the alcoholic beverage industry to explore export opportunities with the support of their department.
