Rajasthan to Launch 48 Premium Model Liquor Shops Across Cities

Jaipur, July 2, 2025 — Buying premium liquor in Rajasthan is about to become a more upscale experience. The state’s excise department is set to open 48 high-end ‘model liquor shops’ in major cities, featuring air-conditioned showrooms in malls and busy commercial areas.

These model outlets will offer only premium brands of alcohol and will be designed for a more comfortable, walk-in shopping experience. Jaipur will get five outlets, while Jodhpur and Udaipur will get two each. Mount Abu and Abu Road—which are close to Gujarat, a dry state—will each have one shop. The remaining 37 shops will be auctioned in other cities.

Key Details:

  • Auction Date: July 7

  • Minimum Bid:

    • ₹1 crore per outlet in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Mount Abu, and Abu Road

    • ₹50 lakh for other cities

  • Participation Fee: ₹50,000 (non-refundable)

  • Bidding Cap: Bids cannot exceed a 10% increase over the base price in one go

To qualify for setting up a shop:

  • Minimum space: 1,000 sq ft in Jaipur, 500 sq ft elsewhere

  • Must-have features: Air-conditioning, POS billing system, and hologram-scanning beep machines for security and transparency

Only high-end liquor will be sold:

  • Beer priced above ₹200 for 650 ml

  • IMFL (Indian-Made Foreign Liquor) priced above ₹1,500 for 750 ml

This new initiative is part of Rajasthan’s 2025–2029 excise policy aimed at attracting premium brands to the state. So far, many top liquor companies have avoided Rajasthan due to lack of proper display and retail infrastructure. According to officials, this move is expected to change that and reduce the need for customers to travel to other states for premium liquor.

The concept is already working well in cities like Gurugram, and Rajasthan hopes to replicate that success.
