The Coca-Cola Company has announced that it will acquire Billson’s, an Australian brand known for its premium alcohol ready-to-drink products like Vodka with Tangle, Vodka with Grape Burst, and Vodka with Portello.
The current owners of Billson’s, Nathan and Felicity Cowan, will continue to produce their popular cordials, sodas, and beers under a new brand name. They will also keep running their hospitality business in Beechworth, Victoria.
Matthias Blume, Coca-Cola’s Vice President of Marketing for ASEAN and South Pacific, said, “This acquisition helps us expand in the growing alcoholic ready-to-drink market in Australia and aligns with our goal of offering beverages for every occasion, while always keeping the consumer in mind.”
He emphasized that Coca-Cola takes its responsibility in alcohol marketing seriously, ensuring it aligns with their Responsible Alcohol Marketing Policy.
The Cowans expressed excitement about the deal, with Nathan Cowan stating that they believe the brand is in the best hands to thrive under Coca-Cola’s ownership. Felicity Cowan shared that the sale would allow them to focus more on their Beechworth venue and other beverage passions.
Currently, Coca-Cola has no plans to expand Billson’s beyond Australia.
