Telangana’s liquor market could soon see a significant expansion in brand choices, with 121 new liquor brands from 18 suppliers moving forward in the registration process. The Telangana Beverages Corporation Limited (TGBCL) has completed the preliminary scrutiny of applications submitted by new suppliers and has now opened the process for public objections.
According to the TGBCL, details of the applicant suppliers, proposed brands and supporting documents have been published on its official website as part of the transparent registration process. The corporation has invited objections from members of the public, existing liquor businesses and other interested organisations. Written objections must reach the TGBCL office at Abkari Bhavan, Nampally, Hyderabad, by 5 pm on September 1, 2026. Objections can be submitted in person or through post, while anonymous and frivolous objections will not be entertained.

The proposed portfolio covers several segments, including whisky, beer, wine, vodka, brandy, gin and tequila. The official supplier list includes products such as Glen Flagler blended and single malt Scotch whiskies, Extill Organic Vodka, Abest Premium Beer and Cheetah Premium Beer, among others.
Media reports have also highlighted several international and premium labels among the proposed applications, including brands associated with single malt whisky, gin and imported beer. However, the inclusion of a brand in the published list does not yet mean final approval or immediate market availability.

After the September 1 objection deadline, TGBCL will examine the representations received and take a final decision on the eligibility of the suppliers and their proposed brands. Only brands receiving the required approvals will subsequently be eligible for sale through Telangana’s licensed liquor distribution network.
The move could increase competition among suppliers and broaden the choice of domestic and international liquor products available to consumers in Telangana, subject to completion of the regulatory approval process.
