Nashik, April 20, 2026: Nashik’s wine scene has received a fresh boost with the opening of Grape Escape, a unique wine café at Ananta Arcade, Pathardi Phata. Positioned as an easy and approachable entry point into the world of wine, the café is already attracting attention from wine enthusiasts, influencers, and hospitality professionals across the city. In a region known as India’s wine capital, the concept adds a new dimension to how wine is experienced and enjoyed.
A New Wine Café Experience in Nashik
Grape Escape is not just another wine bar—it is a thoughtfully curated space designed to make wine accessible to a wider audience. At a time when wine culture in India is steadily evolving, the café aims to break the perception that wine is only for fine dining or special occasions.
The launch event saw strong participation from local creators, winemakers, distributors, and industry insiders, underlining the growing interest in wine-led experiences in Nashik. The concept focuses on simplifying wine selection and encouraging casual exploration, making it appealing to both first-time drinkers and regular consumers.

With its tagline “Wine Made Easy,” the café removes the usual complexity associated with wine, allowing visitors to discover and enjoy it at their own pace without intimidation.
Ambience and Interior Highlights
The 24-seater café offers a lively yet comfortable environment, carefully designed to balance energy with warmth. The interiors feature a mix of maroon, white, and green tones, complemented by pinewood furniture and exposed brick walls that give the space a rustic yet modern feel. A double-height ceiling enhances the openness, making the café feel larger while still retaining a cosy charm.
Among the standout elements is a striking chandelier crafted from sparkling wine bottles and reclaimed barrel wood, creating a strong visual identity for the space. Adding to the character is a six-foot grapevine installation, displayed against a softly backlit wall, bringing a touch of vineyard authenticity indoors.
The layout is thoughtfully divided into two distinct zones. The lower level is vibrant and playful, featuring Bollywood-inspired wine memes, neon signage, and creative artwork that adds personality and relatability. In contrast, the upper level offers a more refined and educational setting, with global wine maps, informative displays, and a dedicated tasting studio designed for curated sessions and workshops.
Wine Menu and Pricing
Grape Escape distinguishes itself as a beginner-friendly wine café in Nashik by simplifying how wines are presented. Instead of complex varietals and technical classifications, wines are categorized based on taste, body, and occasion—making it easier for guests to choose what suits their preferences.
Visitors can enjoy:
- Wine tasting flights of five wines priced at ₹200
- Wines by the glass ranging from ₹220 to ₹250 through an Enomatic machine
- Takeaway bottles at MRP under Maharashtra’s E2 licence
- Dine-in bottles with a modest 20% markup
This pricing approach makes wine more accessible, especially for younger consumers and first-time explorers. Complementing the drinks is a curated Indian food menu, encouraging guests to experiment with wine pairings alongside familiar flavours.
Wine Cocktails and Unique Features
Adding a contemporary twist, the café also offers a selection of wine-based cocktails, including takeaway options for customers on the move. One of its most distinctive features is the wine can vending machine placed at the entrance, offering quick and convenient access—an innovation that is still relatively uncommon in India.
Looking ahead, the team plans to introduce wine on tap and takeaway wine in one-litre growlers, further expanding the ways customers can enjoy wine both on-site and off-site.
Events and Experiences
Grape Escape is designed to function as more than just a café—it aims to be a hub for wine culture in Nashik. The space will host a range of regular events, including wine tastings, curated wine dinners, paint-and-wine evenings, live music performances, and wine appreciation workshops.
These events are expected to create a community-driven environment, where guests can not only enjoy wine but also learn, interact, and engage with the culture around it.
Founder’s Vision
Founder and winemaker Ashwin Rodrigues brings global experience and a long-term vision to the project. After transitioning from a finance career in Sydney, he trained in winemaking in the Barossa Valley before returning to India in 2010. Since then, his focus has been on crafting wines suited to the Indian palate and making wine more approachable for local consumers.
With Grape Escape, his aim is to take wine beyond the confines of fine dining and introduce it to a broader, younger audience in a relaxed and unpretentious environment. The café represents a step towards building a more inclusive and everyday wine culture in India.
Current Offerings
At present, the café features wines from Good Drop, with plans to gradually expand its portfolio to include a wider selection of domestic and international labels. This expansion is expected to further strengthen its position as a go-to destination for wine exploration in Nashik.
