The Glasgow Distillery has introduced three new limited-edition single malt whiskies under its Small Batch Series. Each release is finished in a different type of European wine cask, offering unique flavours and character.
The three new variants are:
- Glasgow 1770 White Port Cask Finish
- Glasgow 1770 Amarone Cask Finish
- Glasgow 1770 Passito di Caluso Cask Finish
All three whiskies are priced at £62 per 700ml bottle and are available in limited quantities.
Each expression is first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in specially selected European wine casks. The White Port Cask Finish is triple-distilled, aged for over four years, and bottled at 53.3% ABV, with only 730 bottles available.
The Amarone Cask Finish is double-distilled and unpeated. It is aged for five years in bourbon casks and then matured further in Italian Amarone wine casks. This variant is bottled at 53% ABV, with just over 1,000 bottles released.
The third variant, Passito di Caluso Cask Finish, is a peated whisky. It is finished in rare Italian dessert wine casks and has the highest strength among the three, bottled at 57.8% ABV.
Founder Mike Hayward said the Small Batch Series allows the team to experiment with different cask finishes and explore new flavour profiles. He added that the series reflects the creative and evolving nature of the distillery.

Blending team member Sebastian Bunford-Jones explained that even when similar casks are used, each of the distillery’s spirit styles develops differently over time. Exceptional casks are then selected for bottling to showcase the interaction between spirit and wood.
The whiskies are currently available through the distillery’s website and select retailers, with international distribution planned in countries including Germany, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
Founded in 2012, The Glasgow Distillery is the first single malt Scotch whisky distillery to operate in Glasgow in over 100 years. Its first whisky, Glasgow 1770, was launched in 2018.
