Diageo India Launches Regenerative Agriculture Program to Promote Sustainability

Diageo India has launched a regenerative agriculture initiative in Telangana, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and water usage in its supply chain. The program, in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture, will work with over 220 rice farmers across 15 villages, covering more than 500 hectares of land in its first year.

The initiative is designed to support smallholder farmers and strengthen the sustainability of Diageo’s supply chain. By focusing on regenerative farming practices, the company hopes to significantly cut down emissions and conserve water.

Jitendra Mahajan, Diageo India’s Chief Supply and Sustainability Officer, said, “Through this rice regenerative agriculture program in Telangana, we’re working towards our goal of reducing value chain emissions by 50% and water use by 30%.” He also mentioned that the company is looking for more partnerships to expand its sustainability efforts, in line with its broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) action plan.

This program is part of Diageo India’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and helping create more resilient local farming communities.
