On Wednesday, after the voting day, liquor shops opened only after 8 pm, leading to long lines and crowded stores. Many people are stocking up in anticipation of another partial liquor ban on Saturday for the election results.
Liquor shop owners report a 20-25% increase in sales before dry days. Rajit Pardeshi, who runs a shop on Karve Road, mentioned that many popular brands sold out on Wednesday night due to high demand. The upcoming weekend and election results are expected to further increase sales.
However, the partial ban, which limits store hours to only two or three hours on certain days, has led to overcrowding, parking issues, and even customer disputes. Some customers, like Akash Khanna from Kondhwa, were unable to park or get their preferred brand due to the chaos.
