This distinctive offering sets itself apart from the majority of Indian rums, traditionally produced using molasses or grain ENA. Camikara proudly claims the title of India’s inaugural premium pure cane juice rum, reflecting the nation’s growing appreciation for high-quality spirits. Notably, the rum market is anticipated to experience a steady annual growth of 5.55% (CAGR 2023-2028), as per a Statista report.
Camikara 3YO, with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 42.8%, challenges the notion of rum being a seasonal spirit. Targeting a diverse audience, from adventurous young consumers to seasoned rum enthusiasts, it offers versatility and complexity. Inspired by Punjab’s cultural heritage, where the distillation of cane juice for a local brew called Laahan has historical roots, Camikara aims to revive this tradition. Building on the success of its award-winning 12YO variant, Camikara 3YO represents a step forward in Piccadily Distilleries’ mission to make premium Indian spirits more accessible. Despite India being the world’s largest sugarcane producer with a rich history of cane juice distillates, the premium rum category had been largely unexplored due to historical influences favoring western spirits.
Siddhartha Sharma, Founder of Piccadily Distilleries, expressed excitement about the launch, stating, “Camikara 3YO will carry on the legacy and cater to a wider audience.” The brand aims to make this golden elixir accessible to more consumers following the success of the limited-edition Camikara 12YO, which secured a ‘Gold Medal’ at the prestigious IWSC Awards 2023.
Camikara 3YO boasts a pure and enticing profile, featuring classic, naturally sweet notes of sugarcane. The aroma presents intriguing hints of funkiness, vegetal greenness, and a subtle embrace of wet leather. Fruity sweetness emerges on the nose, reminiscent of melons, complemented by gentle touches of honey and understated hints of vanilla.
