GUWAHATI: The Excise Department conducted an enforcement drive against the illegal sale of alcohol and liquor on Thursday and Friday. The department has been carrying out drives in the areas of Lokhra, Fatashil Ambari, Lalunggaon, and others. During the raid, the department seized more than 150 litres of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and more than 25 litres of local sulai.
According to officials, “there are various places where there is the illegal sale of alcohol. We are working in teams and carrying out such drives every now and then. Fines are imposed, and strict actions are and will be taken against this.”
During the operation on Thursday, the authorities meticulously seized 35 litres of local liquor. The department has recorded their findings, and actions will be taken in accordance with the legal provisions. The department recovered, seized, and destroyed huge amounts of illegal alcohol.
