As per the press release report UP Additional Chief Secretary, Excise, Sanjay Bhoosreddy and Excise Commissioner Senthil Pandian said “We delivered as promised, our commitment of Rs.36,000 Crs plus, despite 3 successive COVID waves and lockdowns & night curfews”

After the Yogi Adityanath government came to power recently, the UP excise revenue has been on a high growth trajectory posting growths of averaging 20 per cent for the last 5 year tenures it has been in office.

The Uttar Pradesh government is targetting to mop up about Rs 41,000 crore in excise revenue in this 2022-23 financial year. Compared to the target of Rs 34,500 crore for the current fiscal year 2021-22, the target for this year is almost 19 percent higher.

Besides, the new policy aims at providing liquor at reasonable prices, attracting investment, and transforming UP into a self-sustainable producing state.

According to UP Additional Chief Secretary, Excise, Sanjay Bhoosreddy, the new policy has the objective of increasing the income of farmers by protecting crops from being destroyed and creating employment opportunities.

This foresightedness has helped the UP Excise to increase its revenue with a good margin as always. Also in the previous reports he added “Further, we aim at keeping the consumption of liquor in safe limits and eradicate the monopoly of liquor mafias by ushering in transparency and fairness in the allotment of shops,” he added.
