All India Wine Producers Association (AIWPA) and UP state government have welcomed the Wine Industry in the state with the recent announcement made in the excise policy recently.

During the meeting held by AIWPA on 27th Sept 2021 with Addl Chief sec Govt of UP Mr. Bhoosareddy, Excise commissioner Senthil Pandian and other UP Excise dept. officials in Lucknow, the discussion was held on various subjects in relation to the Wine industry interest.

AIWPA President Mr. Jadish Holkar alongwith Mr, S Paithankar, A Rodrigues, A Singh of Indospirit, Anil Sahwney of Godson farms, Shankar Godson farms, have requested the department to make the new policy more Wine Industry friendly, so to attract large share of investment in the state.

UP now boasts of surplus produce of sub-tropical fruits which are now increasingly being used in wine making.

Sri Sanjay Bhoosreddy also said in a statement “Several sub-tropical fruits like mango, jamun, jackfruit, guava, grapes, litchi, amla and papaya are grown in UP and the huge quantities produced are not even fully utilised. A lot of the produce gets wasted due to lack of proper storage facilities for fruits,”.


If wineries are set up here, then the industry will get a boost though incentives, farmers will get the right price for their produce and the state will earn revenue through sale of wine. All the fruits will also be used,” he further added.

Excise commissioner Senthil Pandiyan C said, “Under the one-district-one product scheme, the excise department will identify districts where fruit cultivation is high, and the produce is not used fully so that wineries can be established in such areas.”

The association has also invited the Excise department to visit Nashik valley for the wine study tour. Also, the govt. is facilitating the wine pavilion in SIAL Varanasi from 15-17th Nov, 2021, as per the sources of press release by AIWPA.
