SILCHAR: Assam police has arrested four residents of Mizoram from Khulicherra locality of Dholai police station in Cachar district.
A senior police official on Sunday said the four accused had illegally crossed over to Assam and were engaged in selling illicit countrymade liquor. Superintendent of police (Cachar) Ramandeep Kaur told the media that following a tip-off from the local residents, police rushed to the area and arrested them. The men were illegally staying in Assam and had been running an illicit business. The four have been sent to the Dholai police custody, the SP added.
The police also confiscated equipment used for manufacture of countrymade liquor from them. Those arrested have been identified as Lalnunhlima (50), Lalfakawma (28), Laldowngliana (27) and Lalthakima (14), all residents of Painom locality of Mizoram.
