India’s fast-growing whisky scene is gaining global attention, and Indri Single Malt is emerging as one of its standout names. In just a few years, the brand has evolved from a new entrant into an award-winning label, led by its flagship expression, Indri Trini.
Launched in 2022, Indri now claims to be India’s most-awarded single malt, with over 90 international recognitions. The whisky is made using locally sourced, non-GMO six-row barley from Haryana and Rajasthan, which contributes to its signature fruity and floral character.
A Distillery Shaped by the Himalayas
Produced in the village of Indri in Haryana, near the Yamuna river basin, the distillery benefits from a unique climate. Hot summers and cool winters speed up the interaction between the spirit and oak barrels, helping develop deeper and more intense flavours.
Spread across 168 acres, the distillery houses 14 traditional Scottish-style copper pot stills and more than 75,000 casks. Its maturation programme uses a wide variety of barrels, including ex-bourbon, French wine, PX sherry, Marsala, and virgin American oak.
The whisky is crafted under the guidance of master blender Surrinder Kumar, who combines traditional techniques with climate-driven maturation to create a distinctly Indian style of whisky.
Indri Trini: India’s First Triple-Cask Single Malt
Indri Trini is considered India’s first triple-cask matured single malt, aged in ex-bourbon barrels, French wine casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry oak. This combination gives the whisky its rich and layered profile.
Bottled at 46% ABV, it offers aromas of honey, vanilla, and dried fruits, with a profile reminiscent of sweet pastries. On the palate, it delivers gentle spice, berry notes, orange zest, and hints of chocolate, with a smooth and creamy texture.

Indri Agneya: A Smoky Twist
Another expression, Indri Agneya, offers a lightly peated style. The name “Agneya,” derived from Sanskrit, means “of fire.”
Matured in American oak ex-bourbon and PX sherry casks, it balances subtle smokiness with fruity notes. The whisky opens with vanilla, dried apple, and spice on the nose, followed by flavours of mango, banana, toffee, and a gentle smoky finish.
Expanding Portfolio
Beyond its core range, Indri continues to expand its lineup with offerings like cask-strength editions, Diwali Collector’s releases, travel retail exclusives, and limited expressions such as Founder’s Reserve 11 Year Old.
With its Himalayan influence, innovative maturation, and growing global recognition, Indri is helping put Indian single malts firmly on the world whisky map.
