Sula Vineyards to Acquire Chandon’s Nashik Estate to Boost Wine Tourism

Mumbai: Sula Vineyards has announced that it will acquire Chandon’s wine production facility and estate in Dindori, Nashik, as part of its strategy to expand both production capacity and wine tourism.

The company has signed a definitive agreement with Moët Hennessy India for the deal, which will be executed as an asset purchase. The acquisition includes the land, buildings, and winemaking infrastructure, but does not cover the Chandon brand.

The 19-acre estate features a modern winery with an annual production capacity of 4.5 lakh litres, which can be scaled up to 13 lakh litres. It also includes a visitor centre, banquet facilities, and around 5 acres of vineyards. Sula plans to begin operating the hospitality and tasting facilities once the property is handed over.

The acquisition will be carried out through Sula’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Artisan Spirits Private Ltd, and is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of FY2026-27, subject to regulatory approvals.

ADVERTISMENT

After the deal is finalized, Chandon will stop producing wine in India. Sula will instead use the facility to produce and market wines under its own brand portfolio.

Sula highlighted that the estate’s location offers strong operational advantages, as it is close to its existing wineries in Dindori, allowing better integration. The property is also about 20 minutes from Nashik Airport, where connectivity is expected to improve ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela.

The company plans to develop the estate into a major wine tourism destination. This move aligns with Sula’s hospitality-led growth strategy and builds on its already successful wine tourism operations in Nashik.

Sula Vineyards currently holds over 50% share in India’s premium wine market and operates multiple wineries across Maharashtra and Karnataka, with a portfolio of more than 50 wine labels.
