Pernod Ricard India Tops Alcohol Market Again with ₹27,446 Crore Sales in FY25

Pernod Ricard India has once again emerged as India’s largest alcoholic beverage company by value, posting consolidated sales of ₹27,445.80 crore in FY25 and staying ahead of close rival Diageo India (United Spirits Ltd).

According to financial data accessed through business intelligence platform Tofler, Pernod Ricard India’s total income rose 2.7% year-on-year to ₹27,663.56 crore in the financial year ended March 2025. In comparison, Diageo India reported consolidated revenue from operations of ₹27,276 crore, while its total income, including other income, stood slightly higher at ₹27,612 crore, as per its latest annual report.

Together, the Indian subsidiaries of global liquor giants Pernod Ricard and Diageo generated a combined income of over ₹55,275 crore in FY25, underlining their dominance in the country’s alcohol market.

Beer maker United Breweries Ltd (UBL), now controlled by Dutch brewing major Heineken, ranked next. UBL reported consolidated income of ₹19,444.44 crore in FY25, significantly lower than the spirits-heavy portfolios of the two global leaders.

Pernod Ricard India owns a strong lineup of premium and mass-market brands, including Absolut, Chivas Regal, The Glenlivet, Blenders Pride, 100 Pipers, Longitude 77 and the newer brand Xclamat!on. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pernod Ricard South Asia, which in turn is part of the French spirits major Pernod Ricard. Last year, it streamlined its portfolio by divesting the Imperial Blue brand to Tilaknagar Industries.

On the profitability front, Pernod Ricard India reported an 8% rise in profit to ₹1,734.59 crore in FY25, compared with ₹1,605.99 crore the previous year. Advertising and promotional expenses stood at ₹864.16 crore, up 2.25% from FY24, reflecting continued investment in brand building.

The company’s total expenses increased 2.23% to ₹25,321.33 crore during the year, while tax expenses rose 7.85% to ₹607.65 crore. Domestic sales accounted for the bulk of revenue at ₹27,099.38 crore, with exports contributing ₹274.86 crore.

Looking ahead, Pernod Ricard India remains bullish on growth. Last month, CEO Jean Touboul said the company is targeting double-digit growth in India, driven by premiumisation, innovation, and a sharper focus on higher-value categories.
