SOM Distilleries Launches Mahavat Whisky in ₹1000–₹1100 Range, Enters Mid-Premium Market

SOM Distilleries, a fast-growing name in India’s alcohol industry, has launched a new whisky called Mahavat, targeting the country’s mid-premium segment. Priced between ₹1000 and ₹1100, this is a bold move by SOM to step beyond its traditional value and mass-market offerings and tap into the evolving tastes of Indian whisky drinkers.

The name Mahavat, meaning someone who leads with discipline and strength, reflects the brand’s aim to appeal to confident, modern consumers who take pride in their choices. The whisky has been crafted to deliver a unique experience—offering fruity notes like pear, a light smoky touch, sweet hints, and finishing with woody and cocoa undertones.

Mahavat is made using select grain spirits and matured malts, blended carefully to offer a balance of traditional whisky depth and a modern, smooth flavor. The company says the product is meant to stand out not just in taste but also in personality, capturing traits of boldness, leadership, and individuality.

“This isn’t just another whisky—it’s a powerful entry into one of the most competitive segments in India,” said J.K. Arora, Chairman & MD of SOM Group. “Mahavat sets a new standard for us and reflects our ambition to connect with consumers looking for premium, character-rich spirits.”

The first phase of the launch is already underway in Bhopal, with plans to expand across Madhya Pradesh and then to major markets like Delhi NCR and other metro cities.

Deepak Arora, CEO of SOM Group, added that Mahavat is the result of deep research and expert blending, aiming to deliver not just flavor but a sense of heritage and royalty in every sip. The team worked with seasoned blenders and flavor specialists to understand what Indian consumers really want—richness, smoothness, and a signature finish.

With Mahavat, SOM Group is making one of its most significant product moves to date, signaling its readiness to compete in India’s growing mid-premium alcohol space.
