Globus Spirits Launches TERAI Tequila, India’s First CRT-Certified Tequila

Globus Spirits Limited has entered the premium tequila segment with the launch of TERAI Tequila, marking its debut in the global tequila category. The move reflects the company’s focus on offering authentic, high-quality spirits to modern Indian consumers who are increasingly drawn to international tastes.

TERAI Tequila is sourced from Jalisco, Mexico, and produced at the La Huaracha Distillery, a facility known for preserving traditional tequila-making practices. It is crafted using 100% Blue Weber Agave grown in Mexico’s volcanic soil and distilled through time-honoured methods to retain its authentic character.

In a first for the Indian spirits market, TERAI Tequila is imported from Mexico and bottled in India under the supervision of the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT). This makes it the first tequila in India to carry such certification while being bottled domestically.

Shekhar Swarup, Joint Managing Director of Globus Spirits, said that Indian consumers are rapidly evolving and showing a preference for premium categories that reflect global exposure and refined drinking experiences. He added that TERAI Tequila aims to deliver authentic Mexican craftsmanship while positioning itself as a modern brand for India’s new-age consumers.

The first variant, TERAI Blanco, represents the purest expression of Blue Weber Agave, offering a fresh and vibrant profile. The brand also draws inspiration from Mexican heritage, symbolising patience and tradition, much like the seasonal return of Monarch butterflies.

P. S. Gill, CEO of the Consumer Division, said the TERAI portfolio is designed to connect with consumers seeking quality, discovery, and global relevance. He noted that the launch is not just about entering a new category, but also about strengthening the brand’s presence in India’s growing premium drinking culture.

TERAI Tequila Blanco will be initially priced at around ₹5,815 in Rajasthan, while in Haryana and Goa it is expected to retail between ₹3,600 and ₹4,500, depending on state taxes.
